Isolated form La Mancha region in Spain where the Airen variety is a high yielding grape producing wines with neutral qualities. The M69 strain was selected for increased production of esters to improve the aromatic qualities, glycerol and mouthfeel. La Mancha is characteristically a warm, dry region with high sugar concentrations in the musts. M69 strain has the capacity to ferment very sugary musts and endure high ethanol concentrations. It tolerates a wide temperature range.
